Psycho-Sexual Therapy

“sexuality is as wide as the sea” – David Jarman

Psycho Sexual Therapy

The most important relationship you will ever have is the one you cultivate with yourself.

Psycho-sexual therapy is designed to help explore sexual identity, desires, fantasies, functioning, and intimacy to cultivate a more fulfilling and authentic sexual life, whether you’re an individual or in a relationship.

Sexuality is a rich and evolving part of our identity. Shaped over time by an ever-changing mix of biological, psychological, social, and cultural factors. It's a deeply personal journey—not static or universal—evolving uniquely for each person based on their lived experiences, surroundings, and inner landscape.

Life transitions and events such as aging, illness, pregnancy, trauma, grief, or major transitions can all influence how we experience desire and pleasure.

“If sexuality is one dimension of our ability to live passionately in the world then in cutting off our sexual feelings we diminish our overall power to feel know and value deeply.” - Judith Plaskow

What is Psycho-Sexual Therapy?

Psychosexual therapy offers a supportive, inclusive space to explore your sexuality with openness, curiosity, and compassion. Rather than simply focusing on physical symptoms or performance, psycho-sexual therapy looks at the whole person, integrating the psychological, emotional, and relational aspects of sexuality and sexual wellbeing.

This approach to therapy helps you build awareness and confidence in understanding your mind, body, and the unique ways you experience desire, intimacy, pleasure and connection. It also provides support to navigate relationship challenges, including:

  • Desire and Arousal Differences: Exploring ways to understand and navigate differences in sexual interest between partners, and find a rhythm that feels satisfying for both.
  • Communication Difficulties: Creating space to safely express sexual needs, desires, and boundaries, especially when talking about them feels uncomfortable or unfamiliar.
  • Relationship Dynamics: Working through challenges such as conflict, trust issues, or shifts in relationship structure—whether in monogamous, polyamorous, or other consensual non-monogamous relationships.
  • Healing and Rebuilding: Providing support after betrayals or broken agreements, and guiding couples through the process of re-establishing trust and co-creating new, meaningful boundaries.

Psycho-Sexual Therapy at landscape of life

At landscape of life, Jo is committed to offering a support space where every aspect of sexuality can be openly explored. This includes exploring:

  • Body & Sexual Function: Supporting concerns around performance, low desire, and the impacts of sexual shame with curiosity and care.
  • Sexual Compulsivity & Exploration: Gently unpacking patterns around sex or porn use while exploring your authentic sexual preferences and desires.
  • Sexual Confidence & Self-Esteem: Encouraging a healthy, empowered relationship with your sexual self by building assertiveness and self-trust.
  • Health & Fertility: Offering guidance through fertility challenges, chronic health conditions, or the effects of medication on sexual wellbeing.
  • Reproductive Support: Providing emotionally attuned counselling before conception, as well as compassionate care surrounding abortion experiences.
  • Healing from Trauma: Creating a safe space to gently process and repair the impact of trauma on your sexual identity, pleasure, and connection.
